HOLY GOD




Blessed be His holy name!


       When Holy is a name, it may only refer to God, and it commands absolute reverence and adoration.


       When we call a man or a woman holy, it means that they are behaving in a godly way.


       God’s Power is pure and holy. We are to worship the holy God who is righteous and just. Nothing can get between us and the Lord God if we keep in His "holy and heavenly order."


       Jesus Christ, the Orderer of all things, is the door into the holy Way for his holy people to walk in. For we should walk as becomes the glorious Order of the Holy Gospel which equals the Power of God. We are to walk, have joy, peace, and comfort in the eternal God of Order.


       Holy is a synonym for pure. If something is pure, it's not contaminated in any way. More than just everyday goodness, purity is all that is virtuous. It is innocence, untouched by evil and free from guilt. Chaste is a synonym for pure. It means purity in conduct and intention.


       When the word pure is used to refer to God, it means absolute goodness and absolute integrity. We are created in the Image of God so we can be made pure like Him. We can be good and act with integrity, be disciplined, and capable of holy obedience. Words like sacred, divine, godly, pious, reverent, respect, righteous may show our attitude toward the Holy but are not synonyms for Holy.




       Clean is a name that Fox gives to God. It may seem a rather unusual name but it means pure, unadulterated as opposed to unclean, filthy, or morally impure. Unholy is an antonym for clean. So Fox may be calling God holy when he calls Him Clean. We must be pure, clean, too, for nothing that is unclean or unholy may enter the Holy City of God. (Children are not unholy but clean.)


       Purity is absolutely essential to getting to know God, following our conscience, living a good life, having faith, getting into heaven. We must look to that which is pure in ourselves to lead us to God. We must also look for that which is pure in others and watch over them in love.

CHRIST THE HOLY ONE


     Christ, the Holy One, makes an end to all unholiness.


     Christ is the Holy Head of His holy Church. He is the holy, heavenly Foundation and Rock; He is a holy, pure and a safe sitting.


     The holy name brings reconciliation to all things in heaven and in earth.


     Christ, the Holy Seed, will wear out all evil behavior.




DREAD AND TERROR OF THE LORD


     Holy may also refer to the awesome, frightening nature, the dread and terror of the Lord God. Power keeps us over the world in the dread and majesty of Truth.


HOLY PATH, HOLY WAY, HOLY LIFE


     In the Holy Way we are to know happiness and peace. Even while Fox is in prison, he cares enough for Friends to admonish them to live a holy life.


HOLY GHOST, HOLY SPIRIT


     Friends are to live in the Kingdom of God which stands in holiness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. We are to wait in the Light for Power to witness the Kingdom of God and joy in the Holy Spirit which has no end.

HOLY TRUTH


     The truth is holy, above error and falsehood; the holy, peaceable Truth never changes and is over all evil. We are to walk in the Truth and by it come into a holy life.


     Fox writes to Friends whom he believes have dishonored God, blasphemed Him, spoken evil of His way and holy Truth: "all my dear Friends everywhere, live in the noble Seed, Christ Jesus.

    Mind the Holy Truth, which will let nothing that is unholy in you live. For nothing that is unholy may enter into the Kingdom of God."


HOLY FELLOWSHIP


     Gospel Fellowship is a perfect, pure and holy f Fellowship.


HOLY: SET APART TO THE SERVICE OF GOD


     Words like sacred, divine, godly, pious, reverent, respect, righteous may show our attitude toward the Holy but are not synonyms for Holy.


     We are holy in the sense that we are set apart to the service of God.


     We are the holy generation who offer daily to the Lord the spiritual sacrifice.


HOLY SCRIPTURES


     The Light inspired the Scriptures and now helps us to understand them. He distinguishes the true prophet's word from the false, the words of holy men from the words of unholy ones.


     Friends are to live as pure and holy a life as possible. We are to know the scriptures and keep in the faith that works by love and purifies us. To be holy we must follow the path of the just, always looking at the shining Light.
